THE DEADBEATS

"deadbeats on parade"
Year:    1996
Country:    US
City:    Los Angeles
Label:    Sympathy For The Record Industry
Format:    CD
Tracks:    12
Time:    36 min.
Genre:    rock
Style:            Avantgarde            Punk

Great band in the classic Dangerhouse tradition which record nothing... and all at the same time: avant-garde, free jazz, punk rock, parody, new wave, prog rock and probably more things... Guitarist Geza-X had a solo career and worked as an ace rock producer. Pat Delaney (sax) would later be seen in Bpeople and Romans. They started in 1976 and disbanded two years later but reformed and recorded its old stuff plus new songs in this album entitled "deadbeats on parade" in 1996. Its music style is hard to describe moving from punk to jazz to new wave and even some kind of free improvisation and rare rhythmic section (drums, percussion. The band recorded a live concert one year later and a second studio album in 2016, on double vinyl and making complete free jazz, free improvisation and experimental music.

THE MEMBERS

"at the chelsea nightclub"
Year:    1979
Country:    UK
City:    London
Label:    Universal Music
Format:    CD , LP
Tracks:    16
Time:    45 min.
Genre:    rock
Style:            Avantgarde            Punk

The Members started in 1976 as another teenage band into the punk rock explosion late 70's decade, but quickly they incorporated to their music different elements, sounds and influences closer to reggae, funk, post-punk and new wave. With intelligent and original lyrics, sometimes about personal issues, sometimes about social issues, the band achieved their acclamed debut album in 1979 issued by label "Virgin Records" (Universal Music). With an ironical voice, few distorted guitars, original drums section and some kind of avantgarde style, The Members took the attention of public and medias during its first short period of activy, just until 1983. In 2007 the band come back and still active performing mostly for UK, Europe and US. They participaed in popular festival "Rock Against Racism" and other benefit concerts and events.

"1980: the choice is yours"
Year:    1980
Country:    UK
Label:    Universal Music
Format:    CD , LP
Tracks:    11
Time:    33 min.
Genre:    rock
Style:            New Wave

Perhaps a little bit less original than their debut, The Members recorded this second issue which it can to describe as a new wave album, in the sense here we can found several styles en vogue late 70s and early 80s such as: pop, reggae, ska, funk, post-punk, etc. It seem the best way to describe all of this mixture of music styles is using the word "new wave". The band continues with their intelligent lyrics and making live events for benefit concerts, solidarity events, etc.

City:    Los Angeles
Label:    Warner Music
Format:  CD , LP
Tracks:    12
Time:    50 min.
Genre:    electronic
Style:            Ambient            Electronic

"Most of the music contained in this album originates from recordings I made in London in 1982, whilst working on the score for the film Blade Runner. Finding myself unable to release these recordings at the time, it is with great pleasure that I am able to do so now. Some of the pieces contained will be known to you from the Original Soundtrack of the film, whilst others are appearing here for the first time. Looking back at Ridley Scott's powerful and evocative pictures left me as stimulated as before, and made the recompiling of this music, today, an enjoyable experience."

MÉRYLL AMPE

"void if removed"
Year:    2016
Country:    France
City:    Paris
Label:    Audiotalaia
Format:    digital
Tracks:    4
Time:    28 min.
Genre:    electronic
Style:            Experimental

Méryll Ampe is always working on the physical dimensionality of sound, or on its sculpturisation either live or recorded as an album, as she presents now. The four tracks where fracture, disruption, timber transformations, clashes of textures and the de-composition of noises are the main characters. The constant fracture of the plane, the acceleration and de-acceleration of almost industrial ambiences pushes you deep into a unknown and unexplored sonic terrain: 100% personal and unattainable. It's a scalpel directly operating without anesthesia in your inner ear. A big amount of this sonic sculpture, chopped into a thousand pieces, sits on top of a premeditated process of frequency oxidation, and the metalic sonority that one breaths in throughout the four tracks that compose "Void If Removed". "Vertigo" is specially full of tension and sharpen edges along its almost 9 minutes, after that, through "Odessa" we roll down an ambient tunnel... I met Méryll personally in 2013, since then, a very special connection happened. We shared experiences and sounds in total complicity. Since the beginning I knew I was in front of a top artist and time has just confirmed that to me. Méryll is one of the great ones. And this new work of her might be its best until the date, considering what's to come. (*NOTE = text by Javier Piñango ).

Punk band from Rotterdam (end 1977 - sept. 1980). The band had simple rythmic tracks as basis for society critical /political lyrics. Members Johannes van der Weert (vocals), Maarten van Gent (guitar, vocals), Frank (bass), Allie van Altena (guitar, vocals) and Willem ter Weele (drums). Also Kees Isings played some time on bass, before Frank. RONDOS were a part of the red rock collective of four bands; RONDOS, RODE WIG, SOVJETS, TANDSTICKORSHOCKS. They do gigs together and share their equipment and the place where they practice. They had their own label; King Kong Records, a fanzine "Raket" and released various material aslike the comic "Red Rat". RODE WIG and SOVJETS never released material. Most members of this red rock collective lived in the same building at 2e Ijzerstraat Rotterdam. Named Huize Schoonderloo a.k.a. de Bunker (as that this was a former bomb shelter) The building was 'lent' instead of squated and converted to a practice and printing space. On their last single "Which Side Will You Be On?" they declare they quit. "the rondos quit. this is our last record. we brought the rondos to a conclusion, because in our opinion we became too succesful. and being succesful means accepted. besides; a great part of the punk-movement is developing in a direction which is not ours; violence, alcohol, confirmation and commerce/business. but the struggle continues! we keep fighting with other means. rondos september 1980".
